An MIT staff member writes, "Founded in 1935, the MIT Outing Club has been getting the MIT community into the wilds for three quarters of a century. On any given weekend, MITOC members can be found on the peaks, crags, rivers, and oceans of New England enjoying outdoor pursuits. Annual events including Circuses in the fall and Winter School during IAP draw hundreds of students to the club's two cabins in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
"MITOC provides a means for city-bound MIT community members to experience the great outdoors. Through the clubs involvement with the Intercollegiate Outing Club Association (IOCA), MITOC members are able to forge lasting ties with other college outing clubs from around the country."
