The Organic City

A fantastic community storytelling site centered on Oakland, CA.

I like this site on a number of levels. I discovered it while looking for examples of people using WorldKit (a Flash application that lets you post interactive maps). The Organic City collects stories from people into their Storybase. Then you can search for them via a map or be Genre (e.g. historical), Title (e.g. Bells), Author (e.g. Marc), or Date (e.g. Oct. 20, 2006). There's also a snazzy Video Showcase that has a collection of clips from videos people have submitted.

There's also a Mobile Media section that lets you load up your iPod, Pocket PC, Smartphone, etc. with tours.
