Join us in creating the MIT 150 Exhibition, which will celebrate the Institute’s 150th birthday in 2011! MIT 150 aims to capture the Institute’s unique qualities by involving the entire community in the interpretation and presentation of its most treasured objects. These artifacts will show what makes the MIT environment so distinctive and so productive of innovative solutions for the world’s challenges. Whether you are a student, faculty member, alum, staff or another interested party, we encourage you to nominate your favorite pieces of Institute history for MIT 150. After processing, which typically takes about a business day, all nominated artifacts will be showcased in an ongoing virtual exhibition on this site. You also can comment on any artifact, right underneath its full description. And you now can vote for your favorite objects among the 350-plus that have already been nominated! This will aid us in winnowing out 150 especially compelling and significant objects for display at the MIT Museum. Nominations and voting will continue until January 1, 2010, when Museum staff and colleagues will begin making final selections for the physical exhibition that will open a year later. We’ll keep encouraging you to tell your MIT stories throughout the entire period-and beyond. Please help us see MIT through your eyes now by casting your vote!
