Excellence! Medals and Awards for MIT’s Distinguished Faculty, 1867–Present

MIT has many hallmarks, but its distinguished faculty is one of the Institute’s most precious assets. Beginning with William Barton Rogers’ 1867 medal for his distinguished service to the Exposition Universelle in Paris, the MIT faculty has been showered with accolades and awards. In addition to the medals on display here, this display celebrates MIT’s current and emeriti Institute Professors, MIT’s highest faculty honor, as well as some of the most prominent recent award winners, whose work is not featured elsewhere in the exhibition.
